Right plant, right place!

Match the plant’s natural requirements to your specific site

When plants are sited properly their needs and maintenance will be less, they will perform better aesthetically and support a healthier ecosystem.

Evaluate your garden for
– light (full sun, part sun, shade)
– soil type and drainage (sandy, loamy, clay, dry, wet)
– mature size and growth habit
– exposure to elements (wind, salt, heat, cold)

When you get home …

If the weather is very hot, water more frequently.
Always maintain soil level when planting, that is, plant them only as deep as they are in the pot.
Add some compost to your planting hole
Mulching is recommended for soil moisture retention and weed prevention.

About invasives …

Our plant sale list has been cross-referenced against the New York State Invasive Species Tiers Guide.  We will not be offering any ranked species for the Lower Hudson PRISM region in our plant sales.
